There are gems in there like

open /lib/modules/2.6.8-24.3-default/modules.pcimap

which obviously is obsolete.

Also wouldn't it be better if these files were installed by the rpms
that provide the individual scripts?

it would, but these files are unused at the moment - the only one used is 
earlykdm and earlykdm.kde

Ok then they should be removed from the rpm.
