Description Marcel Hilzinger 2005-08-17 09:02:11 UTC
This scanner is supportet by Linux, but it's not in YaSTs list. It works with
epkowa in 9.3, if you choose the Perfection 4870 Photo, but only with 3200 dpi
(instead of 4800 dpi). Tested with Firewire under Suse 9.3.

Please add this scanner to YaSTs list.

The YaST model list is created from the *.desc files in the sane package, see
http://portal.suse.com/sdb/en/2004/10/jsmeix_scanner-setup-92.html
I.e. there is no YaST specific list to which I could easily add models.

The newest sane package (after beta1) has this model in its *.desc files.

Don't get confused because of slightly different model names like
"Perfection 4870" versus "Perfection 4870 PHOTO".
Both model names should mean in fact the same model.
The differences are because of different model names in the different
*.desc files (e.g. epson.desc versus epkowa.desc).
