Description John Shand 2017-08-16 23:39:28 UTC
When you enter the root password when asked, it takes you to the Yast2. However, when you go to click on Software Manager nothing happens except the hard drive whirs a bit then stops.

This issue started in Opensuse Tumbleweed 20170815.

And the other YaST modules work correctly? Did you try running YaST also in text mode? (Run "yast" command in a terminal as "root" user.)

Please also attach the YaST logs to see more details about the issue (https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Report_a_YaST_bug).

you know what. i've seen another bug report saying all sub modules don't load. i've also tried to use other modules in yast2 to no avail. this may well be a duplicate

i just tried using the text version of yast and it loads ok. however, if you wish to do an update it states that the update repo doesn't exist and i know it does

i see the yast2 crash bug was fixed, which is the same as this one. for some reason libyui-qt8 was not installed with update. my guess is a dependency issue.

YaST2 logs

I can confirm this issue on my machine. The main YaST2 GUI runs fine, but individual modules don't load (either by launching them from the GUI or the command line). Manually installing libyui-qt8 via zypper fixes the problem.

Attached are the requested logs. (I had to truncate zypper.log to get it under the 10 MB limit here.)

Where's the other bug report about submodules not loading?

Oh, possibly it is this one: Bug 1052217. Perhaps this bug is indeed a duplicate of that one.

Hi Tristan,

Bug 1055827 summarizes the problem. I am going to close this as a duplicate of the original bug (1052217).

Thanks for reporting.
