Last modified: 2008-07-16 15:47:16 UTC
snd_powermac is loaded, but there is nothing in dmesg. date:~ # hwinfo --sound 14: None 00.0: 0401 Multimedia audio controller [Created at prom.415] Unique ID: 5lYh.ITz6G5CcwPB Parent ID: ydxh.PzT7KfTTFg7 Hardware Class: sound Model: "Apple Integrated Sound (awacs)" Vendor: int 0x0401 "Apple" Device: int 0x0010 "Integrated Sound (awacs)" PROM id: pci@f2000000/mac-io@17/i2s@10000/i2s-a@10000/sound IRQ: 30 (no events) Driver Info #0: Driver Status: dmasound is not active Driver Activation Cmd: "modprobe dmasound" Config Status: cfg=yes, avail=yes, need=no, active=unknown Attached to: #8 (Unclassified device) I havent tried dmasound, I suspect it works.
No cards in /proc/asound/cards?
0 [Tumbler ]: PMac Tumbler - PowerMac Tumbler PowerMac Tumbler (Dev 14) Sub-frame 0
Try to unmute volumes (or run "set_default_volume -f")
this does not work. sound works ok with dmasound_pmac. but snd_powermac doesnt work.
Specify "doesnt work" :) Of course, the driver might be broken, but might be another reason...
no sound output. sound worked ok on an ibook with burgundy I think
0 [Screamer ]: PMac Screamer - PowerMac Screamer PowerMac Screamer Rev 0 this one works ok, on nectarine.
tumbler used to work with 2.6.10 I think, its already broken with 2.6.13rc3 on my ibook. will try older kernels tomorrow.
2.6.12 is already broken it seems.
worked in 2.6.11
2.6.12 includes Ben's fixes. This is likely the one broke (a certain) tumbler machines.
rc2 worked, rc4 not. trying rc3.
BTW, what is the mixer status? Please attach /etc/asound.state. Some new mixer elements were added to the recent version...
rc3 is already broken, rc2 was ok.

OK you already added the patch to our kernel :)
