Bugzilla – Bug 105557
Second CD-ROM drive not used during the installation
Last modified: 2007-04-10 15:48:10 UTC
I remember from previous SUSE Linux installations, that YaST2 usually scans all available CD-ROM drives for installation CDs, which is quite handy for the installation from CD - you can use both drives to insert the next installation CD. However, this did not work for the installation of 10.0b2 - YaST2 insisted on only reading from my CD-burner /dev/hde - CDs inserted in the DVD-ROM drive /dev/hdd were ignored. root@kallisto:~ # hwinfo --cdrom 15: IDE 03.0: 10602 CD-ROM (DVD) [Created at block.192] UDI: /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/storage_model_LG_DVD_ROM_DRD_8160B Unique ID: cBQ5.0xegWgA0Il3 Parent ID: ESW+.mcsZ0a690T4 SysFS ID: /block/hdd SysFS BusID: 1.1 SysFS Device Link: /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:07.1/ide1/1.1 Hardware Class: cdrom Model: "LG DVD-ROM DRD-8160B" Vendor: "LG" Device: "DVD-ROM DRD-8160B" Revision: "1.01" Serial ID: "" Driver: "VIA_IDE", "ide-cdrom", "ide-cdrom" Device File: /dev/hdd Device Files: /dev/hdd, /dev/dvd, /dev/disk/by-path/pci-0000:00:07.1-ide-1:1 Device Number: block 22:64 Features: DVD Size: 0 sectors a 512 bytes Drive status: no medium Config Status: cfg=no, avail=yes, need=no, active=unknown Attached to: #4 (IDE interface) 16: IDE 04.0: 10602 CD-ROM (CD-RW) [Created at block.192] UDI: /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/storage_serial_5VO2206DL02263 Unique ID: 3Ng9.cFNVA29Xy2A Parent ID: 37TO.8WdZzOai8cD SysFS ID: /block/hde SysFS BusID: 2.0 SysFS Device Link: /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:10.0/ide2/2.0 Hardware Class: cdrom Model: "PHILIPS CDRW1610A" Vendor: "PHILIPS" Device: "CDRW1610A" Revision: "0.010000" Serial ID: "5VO2206DL02263" Driver: "Promise_Old_IDE", "ide-cdrom", "ide-cdrom" Device File: /dev/hde Device Files: /dev/hde, /dev/cdrecorder, /dev/cdrom, /dev/disk/by-id/ata-PHILIPS_CDRW1610A_5VO2206DL02263, /dev/disk/by-path/pci-0000:00:10.0-ide-0:0 Device Number: block 33:0 Features: CD-R, CD-RW Size: 0 sectors a 512 bytes Drive status: no medium Config Status: cfg=no, avail=yes, need=no, active=unknown Attached to: #11 (Unknown mass storage controller) Drive Speed: 16
