Bugzilla – Bug 105643
HAL does not automatically mount hybrid CDs
Last modified: 2007-06-05 09:57:53 UTC
If you insert a hybrid cdrom, subfs/HAL will not mount the disc. A hybrid disc is a disc which can be read as either a PC or Mac disc, giving different information depending on the operating system. An example of such a disc would be Blizzard's Diablo II Play Disc. There doesn't appear to be any way for a user to mount such a hybrid disc, without becoming root and circumventing subfs. My expectation would be that it would automatically mount the PC 'side' of the hybrid disc on an x86 machine. (Or pop up a dialog on the desktop asking which side it should mount, if someone's feeling ambitious.)
please attach output of lshal with inserted cd and the output in /var/log/ messages since you inserted the cd.
There is no new output in /var/log/messages.

added fix for beta 3. Looks like a conflict wile detection the volume ... Please test this again with upcomming beta3 or let me know if I can mail you a new rpm for testing (let me know which arch (ix86 or x86_64) you use).
If you could email it to me, an ix86 rpm would probably work best. Thanks!
