Description peter czanik 2005-08-19 06:31:32 UTC
SuSEgreeter looks ugly.
First of all, only part of text is displayed, but there is no scrollbar. This
way, the 'close' button is not on screen.
Second problem: the 'X' icon for 'close' is just over the 'N' of Novell.
See attached screenshots.

Comment 3 Stephan Kulow 2005-08-19 08:51:09 UTC
your language is just too verbose. But note that the beta greeter has more
text than the final one. So the issue may close at times, but for now I
consider this a translation problem
Comment 4 Karl Eichwalder 2005-08-19 10:26:28 UTC
yes, maybe something along these lines. But according to one of the Novell
styleguides it's a defect with the original text. Text writers are encouraged
to take into account, that some target languages are much wordier than English.
We cannot ask the translator to take the responsibility to shorten the text;
only more experienced translators are able to shorten the text.

Only together we can work out a solution.

If you need, I can try to help. I don't like translating (as making 25 hours of
translations every week for five years during the translators course was enough
for a life), but I have an English->Hungarian translator diploma polished on
shortening EU directives to Hungarian :)
Comment 6 Ines Pozo 2005-08-19 11:55:27 UTC
I am putting Kalman in copy, wo is responsible for the Hungarian version.
Kalman, if you do an in-context-review of the localised beta, perhaps you want
to shorten the text and submit along with the files for the second translation
cycle. Nevertheless thanks for your offer, Peter. If Kalman needs additional
resources maybe he can contact you.
Comment 7 Kalman Kemenczy 2005-08-19 12:43:21 UTC
As I understand there will be another SUSEgreeter text for the final build and
we should take care the number of characters.
Comment 8 Stephan Kulow 2005-08-19 13:18:56 UTC
note the links in /opt/kde3/share/apps/SUSEgreeter - and the NOTE...
is gone after beta2
Comment 9 Frank Seidel 2005-09-05 12:44:30 UTC
also ran into this on a full-install (german) of sl10 beta4plus...

Comment 11 Karl Eichwalder 2005-09-05 13:08:48 UTC
I guess the first para will vanish on the final build and layout will settle
automagically.
Comment 12 Frank Seidel 2005-09-14 14:43:37 UTC
looks good in my eyes now in RC3
