Bugzilla – Bug 105988
update change the boot system
Last modified: 2005-08-23 06:54:40 UTC
beta 1 was installed to boot on the partition the system was installed on, not MBR (there was other things on the mbr). updating to beta2 changes this to MBR. This was probably visible in the last install, screen, but should not be by default (the old boot menu is gone)
Are you speaking about update, or installation? Could you attach logs (see http://www.opensuse.org/index.php/Submit_a_bug for details)?
Created attachment 47004 [details] the mandrake lilo.conf file that gives boot to the hda8 partition (suse)
Created attachment 47005 [details] Yast2 logs (all the /var/log/yast2 folder)
I had bbeta 1 installed and I made an update frome the beta2 cd before the update the suse boot was MBR (Mandrake)->hda8/suse menu (see the mandrake lilo.conf attached) after the update (default) MBR was suse...
Thanks! Only if bootloader was originally installed to the boot sector of the partition holding /boot subtree, the target was reset to MBR. Fixed in SVN, please, test with Beta4.
beta 4? I have only beta 2, yet :-)
