Description Perret Florian 2005-08-23 08:47:21 UTC
I'm using my laptop to surf by wifi on the internet at two places (work and home).
These two connections must be configure with DNS, WEP, IP, routeur, network
name... And I must do all of this configuration each time I go work or be back
at home !

So, is it possible to add a way to save connections settings (like in windows) ?
This way it becomes possible to switch easier between several network
configurations. I think this is a must have feature for mobility...

The "System Configuration Profile Management" can take care of this.
If this doesn't work for you please reopen the bug with detailed
information about the problem.

OK, I didn't know this method.
But it looks like a heavy method for just create and select another internet
settings. This system is more global and more for administrator than end-user.
What about a simplier way integrate in YAST -> Network ?

Yes, there are plans for this. But I don't think they will cover all
of DNS, WEP, IP, routes, ...

Stefan might know more.

It looks like a heave method but it is currently the only one. SCPM was
designed for end-users, too, especially if you use the kscpm for easy
switching (after creating the profiles). I don't see an 'add-on' coming in
network module in the near future currently.
