Bugzilla – Bug 112705
Powersaver does not intermittently return visiable
Last modified: 2006-11-20 18:49:26 UTC
Code 10 beta 2 On rachmaninov.suse.de from time to time I have seen where the powersaver does not return to visable when moving the mouse or pressing keys. The workaround that I have done is to switch consoles (Cntl Alt F1) then switch back ((Cntl Alt F7). This will return to a visable state. Not sure what info to provide to diagnose this.
You mean the kpowersave applet disappears? Could you try to specify from time to time a bit more detailed. Is it only if you move the mouse over the applet, or is there any way to reproduce this on an other machine, so that we could have a look at it ourselves? Is this a Gnome or KDE system, I expect Gnome?
I've misled you... I assumed kpowersaver was the modules responsible for allowing the monitor to shutdown or go into powersave mode. Is it Xfree? So let me try again because I was not so descriptive. This is KDE. The monitor (iiyama Vision Master Pro17) after some time of inactivity on the keyboard or mouse will go to a powersaving function where nothing is displayed or visable. The power l.e.d. on the monitor goes from solid on to blinking state. Normally a movement of the mouse or pressing a key will trigger the monitor to "power up" once again. 65% of the time when going into the powersave mode on the monitor, and pressing a key or moving the mouse the monitor will once again power up and return to visable mode as opposed to a dark screen. 35% of the time, a key press or movement of the mouse will NOT trigger the monitor to power back on. When this happens switching consoles is the work around required to "power up" the monitor. Regarding reproducing this: I'm hopeful that Seife or other QA person will be able to reproduce the problem. I'll try beta 3 today.
This is not a powersave (mean powersave/kpowersave) issue. This is maybe a X11/ X.org bug ... I reassign to this component.
Please attach /var/log/Xorg.0.log and /etc/X11/xorg.conf.
Happens also with Beta 3

Ok. nv driver. Geforce2 integrated. Nothing obvious I could see.
Any news?
OK, I was logged on rachmaninov waiting to do some debugging. However I received no feedback instead I was logged out when the macine was shut down. I'm closing this now for lack of feedback.
