Description Roger Larsson 2005-08-25 19:02:27 UTC
Got a long list of packages with conflicts, but it was very hard to tell
that the problem really was that no updated version of that package exists.

Preferrably some info about why a specific package needs manual handling
would be nice.

But I noticed one reason why it is harder than necessary.
There is no hint that all package information is for an already installed
package since the header "Installed Version" is missing from several tabs.

Well, yes. The conflict dialog is not a that clear.
Comment 2 Stefan Hundhammer 2005-08-25 19:16:42 UTC
Sorry, at that point we don't have any more information than that. Everything
we know about the problem is displayed in that window. If we knew anything
more, we would tell the user - or, rather, try to fix it without bothering the
user at all.

It doesn't get any better than that at this point. And yes, this is not ideal.
But we can't help it with the current dependency solver.

The resolution to that would rather be something like CANTFIX, but this is
unknown to Bugzilla. WONTFIX is what comes closest.

Could you explain why the header "Installed Version" is missing from
"Technical Data" and "Dependencies" tabs?
If this header was shown you would understand that there were no "Alternate
Version" (Updated Version) available.
