Last modified: 2005-08-26 08:13:06 UTC
clean install of beta 3. ipw2200 nic cannot be configured. ipw-firmware missing from installation. added ipw-firmware-5.6 from ftp.suse.com . no help. problem now appears to be hotplug/udev related. by looking at dmesg errors. below are some relevant error messages found in dmesg. dmesg | grep hotplug udev[939]: run_program: exec of program '/usr/sbin/hal.hotplug' failed pci_hotplug: PCI Hot Plug PCI Core version: 0.5 input.c: calling hotplug without a hotplug agent defined dmesg | grep ipw2200 ipw2200: Detected Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection ipw2200: ipw-2.3-boot.fw load failed: Reason -2 ipw2200: Unable to load firmware: 0xFFFFFFFE ipw2200: failed to register network device ipw2200: probe of 0000:02:04.0 failed with error -5

Yes, firmware hotplug is broken in beta3. Don't know if there is a fixed package available yet. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 112820 ***
