Bugzilla – Bug 113254
Info missing in helptext of YaST2 support module
Last modified: 2008-06-25 09:52:27 UTC
The text says: "In a shell, enter the command like the following: chmod 644 /tmp/support.txt." The command has to be performed as superuser root of course. This should be added to the text. Although this bug is not a translation problem, fixing is depending on the translation team. My question: Is it still possible to correct the text?
Yes, it's rather late for translation related changes. I'd say there is something broken conceptually if we must ask the user to enter weird shell commands for filing a support request. Thus I propose to fix it as a (Yast?) usability bug.
You are right that this isn't nice. But it can't be fixed easily. The created file shouldn't be readable by anyone on the system, but only from the person used the YaST module (Technically this is always root). If someone has an idea how to do it right I'm happy to fix this. But I don't think there is a solution for 10.0 and if it would we had to change the help texts anyway. So what should be done *now*.
I'm inclined to resolve it as "LATER" and rate the bug as an enhancement. IIRC, "vc" knows about the owner of the parent shell, while "mbuild" does not (maybe I'm wrong, though). If you do not agree with the porposed resolution, please re-open the bug.
mass reopening all SuSE Linux bugs that are set to REMIND+LATER to change the resolution to WONTFIX (adapting to new policy)
Closing old LATER+REMIND bugs as WONTFIX - if you still plan to work on it, feel free to reopen and set to ASSIGNED. In case the report saw repeated reopen comments, it's due to bugzilla timing out on the huge request ;(
