Bugzilla – Bug 1133169
Libreoffice: Area bitmap lost after save as docx
Last modified: 2021-07-09 21:08:06 UTC
Problem: A document created by writer, format page with 'Area' -> 'Bitmap' selecting 'paper texture', them 'Apply' and 'OK' then 'save as' and file type .docx works fine, but when the file is reopened by libreoffice, the area bitmap is missing. The same procedure, saving as .odt and reloading works fine. The bitmap is displayed as expected. System: LibreOffice 6.2.3.2 (Build ID: 20(Build:2) under Tumbleweed 20190420 KDE: 5.15.4 KDE Frameworks: 5.57.0 QT: 5.12.2 Kernel: 5.0.8-1-default OS Type: 64-bit Reproduce by: 1. Create new writer document. 2. Add area bitmap to document 3. Save document as type .docx 4. Close document 5. Re-open document 6. Area background is missing.
I can reproduce this (using the first texture showing up in the list of textures when I perform 1. Right click 2. Select "Page..." in the context menu 3. Select the "Bitmap" button 4. Select "Apply" 5. Save document as DOCX, restart LibreOffice, and reopen document Michal, can we get this addressed (via L3)?
Just found this one- Gerald, you likely have a better overview now about the priorities, do you want to add it to the queue?
Updated description of reproducer (LibreOffice 7.0): 1. Right click in a new Writer document 2. Select "Page style..." in the context menu that appears 3. Select "Area", then the "Bitmap" button, choose one and "Apply". 4. Save document as DOCX, restart LibreOffice and reopen document (or open in Microsoft Office) I am wondering whether this may actually a feature disparity, where the Microsoft Office format does not have this as a native functionality?(In reply to Michal Svec from comment #2) > Just found this one- Gerald, you likely have a better overview now about > the priorities, do you want to add it to the queue? I'll keep an eye on it, Michal.
Hi, is this bug still alive?
This bug was fixed in a later update to LibreOffice. Marked resolved.
I can still reproduce this with Version: 7.1.4.2 / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 10(Build:2) CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 5.12; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3 Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI: en-US and Version: 7.3.0.0.alpha0+ / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 19e0c59a722dca6cd8b6ca61ed421c34c2773d18 CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 5.12; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3 Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI: en-US TinderBox: Linux-rpm_deb-x86_64@86-TDF, Branch:master, Time: 2021-07-08_10:52:10 But it's really better to report and track this upstream; openSUSE by itself does not have a larger number of LibreOffice developers that look to address issues reported in our Bugzilla. In fact, someone already a very similar issue upstream, cf. https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=126533
