Bugzilla – Bug 113330
copying many photos from Kodak cam is painful
Last modified: 2007-05-25 09:42:55 UTC
The Kodak DX 7590 has an SD-card and can be connected using USB to the Laptop. If you want to copy some files from the cam to the desktop, it takes ages: Open a konqueror-window, connect to the camera using "camera:/", go to the right directory on the cam, mark all, select 'copy to' from the menue available with right button click. It looks like two scans are done for copying: first one through all pictures, taking quite some time, where it is not clear what is done, and than a second one for the copying. Copying some hundred files is taking ages. Taking the card out of the cam and reading it with a normal cardreader (connected with USB to the laptop) is a hundred times faster. I am not usre if it is possible to speed it up, but it would be nice if at least a message would appear for the user what is happening.
yes, it is slow ... mostly due to the natuer of this kamera client. in this case switch to "digikam" I think... have to talk with coolo regarding this.
cant fix for 10.0 ... :/
still have to rewrite the ptpfs in libgphoto2. where to find the time :(
So no fix in 10.1? :(
I am afraid not. I recommend digikam for photo import under KDE.
Fortunately we offer digikam import now if you plugin that camera. In the past we only offered camera:/
What shall we do with this bug? Close it as WONTFIX or LATER or move it to SL 10.2?
10.2
i fixed this for KDE 3.5.8 and KDE 4 now in upstream SVN. WIll include it in kdegraphics3 of 10.3
