Bugzilla – Bug 113572
Include GTKpbutonsd in Gnome selection on PPC.
Last modified: 2006-09-28 13:26:29 UTC
I have installed SUSE 10 beta 3 on my powerbook G4, and everything seems to be working fine ( except a few glitches which i will fill bug reports for ). I have noticed that it ships with pbbutonsd by default, however it would be good to include GTKpbutonsd aswell ( frontend to pbbutonsd daemon ) which pops up a little image the OS X style every time one uses function keys ( i don't see it in default package set ).
this has to go into the gnome selection.
Sorry, but the Gnome needs to decide which packages should be in Gnome selection, not me. Assign back to me, when you think it's a good idea to add this package.

So does that mean that i have to first request in GNOME mailing list additionof this package in standard GNOME set of application, so that you may consider it as third party addon package for suse ppc standard package set ? Maybe i should assign this to group x11-3d party ? Personally i think it would be good if users that actually switched from os X to linux on mac have something that reminds them of osX, GTKpbbutonsd is a wrapper which pops up lil images just like it happens in osX when u for instance turn on/of volume, eject cd ... etc Im sure you can consider setting up this little package in standard set or at least additional set of apps for suse ppc release.
Daniel: Stefan is just handing this off the the Gnome maintainers within SUSE/Novell for consideration. There's no need to go to any external lists or to switch this to X11-3rdparty. Someone with better access to PPC hardware than I should consider this, though.
I don't think we should ship platform specific notifications like this. I think this is best addressed with the upstream system notification work going on in GNOME.
