Yes? What is the problem?

Could you please add some more information to this report that helps us
understand what is actually broken?
Comment 2 Pavel Machek 2005-08-29 11:16:18 UTC
Well, you really should not use sensors and ACPI at the same time. ACPI expects
to control fans, and if you do some changes behind its back... don't do it.
Comment 3 Hubert Mantel 2005-08-31 15:31:22 UTC
So this one is invalid?
Comment 4 Pavel Machek 2005-08-31 19:55:33 UTC
I guess so...

Well unfortunately that means that lm_sensors are pretty much unusable, because
most people need ACPI these days. sensors people may want to solve this somehow,
but I'm not sure what the solution can be.

This bug pollutes my /var/log/messages file by filling it up and leaving it unusable. My hardware is an HP Pavilion a706n. How do I make my this logging stop?
Comment 6 Dr. Werner Fink 2006-05-16 09:10:18 UTC
As already mentioned in comment #2
Comment 7 Link Porterfield 2006-05-16 14:52:18 UTC
Comment # 2 tells me nothing about making the constant barrage of garbage to my syslog stop. I have whatever packages KDE (specifically kdebase) required as configured by default. I cannot get sensors or ACPI to uninstall due to kdebase dependencies. Hopefully /usr/share/doc/packages/sensors/FAQ has some answers, but why is the default configuration spamming my logs with useless information?
Comment 8 Dr. Werner Fink 2006-05-16 15:00:38 UTC
Run as root

     /etc/init.d/lm_sensors stop
     insserv -r lm_sensors
