I can't start KAT on SuSE 10.0 beta3. 
It crashs when starting displaying "KCrash: Application 'kat' crashing..." 
It doesn't even get to show the configuration window. 
 
If you need anymore info, just ask.

After I logoff and login, it appeared in the tary and it was running as 
nothing wrong had happened (although it didn't run the first time I issued the 
kat command). 
 
Maybe it is a problem with the initial wizard dialog.
