Bugzilla – Bug 113839
Installing VMware makes keyboard not respond.
Last modified: 2006-02-07 14:38:30 UTC
After running vmware-config.pl the keyboard stops responding. The machine is still usable, so you can run some commands by creative use of cut-and-paste in terminals but the keyboard wont work, including switching out of X with Control-Alt-F1 or any other combination.
Does this happen when you run vmware-config.pl in the console, too? Does this happen in a non-Gnome environment? Since the mouse is working, this means the kernel kbd/mouse drivers are not disturbed. Is this a PS/2 or USB keyboard?
It happens after vmware-config.pl restarts the modules. I do not know about the Console, I will try on the next beta (I had to go back my backup drive). This happens with the built-in keyboard on a ThinkPad T42p.
What's the current status here (10.0 final)?
