Bugzilla – Bug 113946
Second round of package installation...
Last modified: 2005-10-03 10:44:51 UTC
(Under KDE) I went to YaST2's 'Software Management' panel and added few packages to my system. Everything went OK, but (after SuSEconfig finished and) answering the question regarding installing of _still more_ packages, one could get to an interesting scenario, when the following is on the screen (already _during_ the installation): Total Done 00:00 SUSE LINUX Media Size Packages Time CD3 Done Done 0:00 So here independently, how many CDs you used for installing of your second round of packages, only single ones are shown as there would be no work. Additionally not only the listing of other CDs is missing here and the output values are wrong, but the status bar at the right hand side is also inactive. In contrast, the installation procedure of these packages has NO defect, so something is wrong how the installation gets monitored in this case. I could reproduce this on three comps with different locales.
Could you, please, attach the logs? See http://www.opensuse.org/index.php/Submit_a_bug for details. Also, please, confirm that: - Even CDs which YaST will later ask for are not shown in the overview - The Packages/KB numbers are 0 all the time even if there are multiple packages from the CD to be insatlled.
I could confirm BOTH of your points: overview is dummy and the values stay 0 for the (2nd rounf of) installation! I attached my logs once already for the bug #115183, take them from there please. I'm on modem and it was the same install. Ps. By the way I have nothing "special", common English KDE locale with some Hungarian extras.
Created attachment 49520 [details] Few screenshots... I could confirm this feature (?) also in RC1 on both my desktop/laptop (screenshots attached from the later one). I also found out, that while using CDs as inst. sources everything goes well, but the display gets corrupted on a reproducible way, after the CDs get copied to the harddisk and setup as inst. source from there! Hope, that it helps. [KDE, Hungarian locale; no additional packages were added prior the test(s).]
Fixed in SVN for 10.1. The data for the slideshow could not be reinitialized.
