Bugzilla – Bug 114226
resolution switcher applet is duplicated in the gnome panel
Last modified: 2005-09-01 18:06:07 UTC
Every time I log into Gnome, in the notification area of the Gnome panel I have two resolution switcher applets. For me, this has been so for several distributions now (I clearly remember it in 9.2 and 9.3) but dunno if it was reproduced... The idea is that if I don't close one of the two instances of the resolution switcher applet, the next time I log in I will have three of them in the notification area... I am posting a screenshot to show this... and prolly will post another one after I logout and re-login. Daniel

Created attachment 48225 [details] Now there are three applets...
Daniel: have you run gnome-session-save lately? I can reproduce this (also w/ best) by running gnome-session-save. netapplet doesn't have this behavior.
I use session save option in the Desktop -> Gnome Control Ceter -> Sessions (it's activated, that is... automatically save changes to session -> on)
Robert, can you build a patch similar to the netapplet one that exits if already running?
The Cheetah is on the case!
Created attachment 48340 [details] Proposed fix. Only allow the applet to load once. Say it with me, lalala, ROBERT LOVE IS THE GOLDEN CHEETAH.
Gary, critical fix above. I also merged this upstream and rolled a new resapplet release, 0.0.7, so in the future we can drop this patch and ship 0.0.7.
will this be available in beta4?
0.0.7 was submitted with the fix for RC1.
good :) now check the beagle cause it's doing the same thing :) In beta 4 i got them both, side by side, two icons from each in the notification area :P want me to open a new/separate bug for beagle? Daniel
