Bugzilla – Bug 114483
during installation, wrong network interface is started
Last modified: 2007-03-13 18:46:30 UTC
after the first reboot during installation, i get to the network configuration I have two interfaces: - wired, i configure it manually to fix.suse.de / 10.10.0.0 / gw 10.10.0.8 - wireless, i leave it at "unconfigured". Now i want to set the proxy settings. I set all protocols to "http://proxy.suse.de:3128/" I press "test proxy settings", it fails after a long time. On console 2 i can verify with ip / ifconfig / route / iwconfig, that eth0 (the wireless interface) is up and eth1 (the wired interface) is down. No wonder i cannot get a connection :-) I'll provide yast2logs as soon as the installation is finished (i have no network right now ;-)
one step later, the downloading of the release notes and online updates succeeds since the network is started now. But eth0 is still active (and has some strange IP address i did not set, probably a dynamic address but since eth0 is not associated to an access point, i don't know where this address comes from).
Created attachment 48360 [details] save_y2logs y2logs.tgz
Martin: there is a problem with unconfigured wireless network interface which gets configured. The another problem which is that the [Test Proxy] button could probably disappear for the installation but ... I'm not sure in which cases you have the network activated :( The another problem is, that the missing [Test Proxy] button will drop the implemented functionality and we will be where we started.
Reassigning to the new maintainer of yast2-network.
It'a already fixed bug. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 74339 ***
