Bugzilla – Bug 114691
Very high memory usage during installation
Last modified: 2005-09-01 14:49:42 UTC
When installing SL 10.0 (occured with all previews and betas until now), the installation speed suddenly decreases rapidly after about 80-90% of installation. The cause seems to be a memory leak or something similar that causes the system to use a total amount of about 750 MBytes(!). On the test system (with 512 MB RAM), this leads to extensive swapping and thus slows down installation rapidly. I'll attach YaST2 logs and 'free' and 'ps -auxwwwwf' output as soon as installation is complete. Is there anything else I should add? Test system: FSC Amilo PRo 8010, Intel centrino 915 chipset, 512 MB RAM, Intel Pentium M 1.73 Ghz, 60 GB SATA HDD.
This is very unusual. Please attach /var/log/YaST2/* and /var/lib/YaST2/* and we'll have a look.
