There are two ldap.conf files. One is /etc/ldap.conf, the other in
/etc/openldap/ldap.conf
beech:/etc # rpm -qf /etc/ldap.conf
pwdutils-3.0.4-2
beech:/etc # rpm -qf /etc/openldap/ldap.conf
openldap2-client-2.2.27-6

Yes, correct, both with different syntax.
