I guess now we have an EDID conflict. this ibook needs 1024x768.

g61:~ # hwinfo --monitor
20: None 00.0: 10000 Monitor
  [Created at monitor.373]
  Unique ID: rdCR.6zynaz16BT6
  Hardware Class: monitor
  Model: "Apple Color LCD"
  Vendor: APP "Apple"
  Device: eisa 0x9c37 "Color LCD"
  Size: 28x21 cm
  Resolution: 1024x768@60Hz
  Config Status: cfg=new, avail=yes, need=no, active=unknown

for some reason, sax gets it wrong, hwinfo looks ok.

no problem we can manage that:

+#==============================================
+# COLOR LCD 9C37
+#----------------------------------------------
+APPLE:COLOR LCD 9C37  {
+ DDC=APP9C37
+ Option=DPMS
+ Hsync=32-60
+ Resolution=1024x768
+ Vsync=50-70
+}
