Description Dennis Lubert 2005-09-09 22:19:01 UTC
I don't know where /boot/message really comes from (which package) but it looks
like it is installed by yast when changing bootloader config. I suspect its
something in interpreting this ps-like language for those files. Here the symptoms:

When booting up, there is the bootscreen, and the number of seconds thats
usually counting down is now 3197 and is not counting down, you need to choose
manually the OS to boot. Thats extremly nasty in case of a headless system thats
remotely rebooted...

Update or fresh install? Which boot loader? Boot loader config file?
Comment 2 Dennis Lubert 2005-09-12 13:15:39 UTC
update install, and as the subject suggests lilo with this config:

menu-scheme = Wb:kw:Wb:Wb
timeout = 80
lba32
change-rules
reset
read-only
prompt
default = 2613.1
message = /boot/message
boot = /dev/hda

image = /boot/2613
###Don't change this comment - YaST2 identifier: Original name: 268###
    label = 2613.1
    append = "showopts splash=silent resume2=swap:/dev/hda6 psmouse.proto=bare"
    vga = 0x317
    initrd = /boot/initrd.2613

the /boot/message was freshly generated and lilo installed by yast bootloader
configuration

fixed
Comment 4 Dennis Lubert 2005-10-07 21:26:51 UTC
Ok, how can I fix it too ? I have now latest versions, rerun yast bootloader
installation and have now another bootscreen but the timeout issue is still there...
Comment 5 Steffen Winterfeldt 2005-10-10 09:44:25 UTC
You need an updated lilo. It must have this changelog entry:

* Mon Sep 12 2005 - snwint@suse.de
- adapt gfx patch to recent lilo (#116285)
