Bugzilla – Bug 116911
yast doesn't handle multiple modems per ISP
Last modified: 2008-06-25 09:52:46 UTC
The most annoying thing with configuring a dialup modem in yast is that each time I try out a different modem, which happens quite a lot with those losemodems, I have to re-enter all the ISP details. When I find the first modem doesn't work, I plug in another one for testing. However, I can't attach the previously configured provider to this modem. If I delete the first modem configuration first, the configured provider becomes orphaned. In any case I have to create another provider config. It's been like this since, uhm, 8.0? Grumble. Both smppd and kinternet can handle any number of modems and providers. There is actually nothing speaking against having say two modems and one provider configured, as long as the user doesn't activate them both at once.
Sounds plausible, will not make it into the 10.0 final though. Assigned.
should have assigned it first...
now closing with resolution: later
Reassigning to the new maintainer of yast2-network.
mass reopening all SuSE Linux bugs that are set to REMIND+LATER to change the resolution to WONTFIX (adapting to new policy)
Closing old LATER+REMIND bugs as WONTFIX - if you still plan to work on it, feel free to reopen and set to ASSIGNED. In case the report saw repeated reopen comments, it's due to bugzilla timing out on the huge request ;(
