Description Andreas Kleen 2005-09-16 08:19:07 UTC
e.g. when I select an ethernet interface in the DSL configuration
I only get a list of MAC addresses, which is very unintuitive
because hardly anyone can remember these long hex strings (or at least I
can't)

It would be better to show the product name (like IP network configuration)
does and the pcibus/slot (to make it unique if there are multiple ones) + mac
address.

IP configuration also misses bus/slot.

Reassigning to the new maintainer of yast2-network.
Comment 2 Michal Zugec 2007-05-28 12:27:44 UTC
what about same dialog like exists in TestInternet (during installation)?
Comment 3 Andreas Kleen 2007-05-28 14:37:30 UTC
I don't think i've ever used that dialog (I always skip that test). I'll look
next time I reinstall some box. But if it has the information I outlined
above it is probably ok.
Comment 4 Michal Zugec 2007-05-28 14:58:32 UTC
There is:
device type, device name, IP address, device ID
I'm sure that this is enought and if not, we should use "one code" and improve both of them

fixed in 2.15.38
