Bugzilla – Bug 117426
Selecting ethernet interfaces should be by product name + MAC + pci slot, not only MAC
Last modified: 2007-05-31 15:46:49 UTC
e.g. when I select an ethernet interface in the DSL configuration I only get a list of MAC addresses, which is very unintuitive because hardly anyone can remember these long hex strings (or at least I can't) It would be better to show the product name (like IP network configuration) does and the pcibus/slot (to make it unique if there are multiple ones) + mac address. IP configuration also misses bus/slot.
Reassigning to the new maintainer of yast2-network.
what about same dialog like exists in TestInternet (during installation)?
I don't think i've ever used that dialog (I always skip that test). I'll look next time I reinstall some box. But if it has the information I outlined above it is probably ok.
There is: device type, device name, IP address, device ID I'm sure that this is enought and if not, we should use "one code" and improve both of them
fixed in 2.15.38
