Bugzilla – Bug 118356
Installation with VNC enabled doesn't add needed packages for "first boot"
Last modified: 2006-02-17 14:51:58 UTC
When installing via VNC and choosing "text-mode" as package-selection, the needed stuff to start VNC after the first boot (to finish the installation) aren't selected automagically. What happens is that after the CD1-packages are installed, the system boots, tries to start the VNCserver which doesnt work and then tries to boot the rest of the system which partly works. Problem is that you can't login, cause no accounts are setup and root is denied also.
just tried with RC4, works after reboot but: when i come to add the user (after confirming that my password is unsecure) it freeze/kill the vnc server. assigned to yast maintainer and attached y2log

Jiri, please, investigate why it hangs.
Martin, could you reproduce it? Before you confirm user creation, could you please turn on verbose logging (using Shift-F7 combination) and attach new logfile?

uhm - the last log is not from system hanged in users confiuration, is it? It ends with the release notes dialog...
yes .. sorry my comment was ignored. i tried vnc installation 2 times, the first time it hangs at the internettest, the 2nd time the last thing i saw was suseconfig after added the user. logifle is from the 2nd installation.
Jiri, do you have any idea? It seems to hang in several stages, not only during users config...
No, I have no clue what causes this problem. The internet-test seems that it could be caused by network restart, but I have no clue what void can be performed after the users configuration.
please test again with 10.1
