Updated from SL 9.2:

A click on the kcontrol icon just pops up an alert box (KDEInit kann "kcontrol"
nicht starten).

If I try manually, it seems to be a library problem.

sol:/data/add-9.2 # /opt/kde3/bin/kcontrol
/opt/kde3/bin/kcontrol: /usr/local/lib/libstdc++.so.6: version `CXXABI_1.3.1'
not found (required by /opt/kde3/lib/libkhtml.so.4

/usr/local/lib/libstdc++.so.6 ? Did you compile parts of your system yourself?

obviously I would say
