Description Patrick Smart 2005-09-25 22:20:05 UTC
I am reporting here a problem already reported to the k3b mailing list
(http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?thread_id=8238801&forum_id=1927):

>--->
I am using k3b under SUSE (first with 9.3 and now with 10.0RC1). I've
not been able to write DVD's using k3b 0.12.3 or 0.12.4a. It works fine
with 0.11.24. The packages are the ones from Guru
 (http://linux01.gwdg.de/~pbleser/rpm-navigation.php?cat=Multimedia/k3b/).

I think it is not visible in the logs below: the NEC DVD writer I am
using is in a LaCie USB 2.0 box (connected through a Q-tec USB 2.0
 card), if relevant.

It seems that k3b is doing something to the system or to the drive that
afterwards keeps it from writing DVD's, e.g. using growisofs directly in
command line. After a cold reboot, I am able to write a DVD with the
 growisofs command line.

Please tell me what other info you might need!

Thanks in advance for your help and for the usually great program!

 Regards,

 Patrick

PS: I pasted the hardware info about the drive at the end of this mail.

It could just be a k3b problem (as opposed to a distribution one) but I wanted
to make sure it was known here.
Comment 1 Alex Weeks 2006-01-22 19:24:09 UTC
I'm having the same issue. Has there been any movement on this?
Comment 2 Stephan Kulow 2006-02-04 15:47:58 UTC
our QA tests burning DVDs for all products we release and never found a problem. I can't tell you what's the problem with your hardware - sorry
Comment 3 Patrick Smart 2006-02-04 23:35:13 UTC
On my side, it now works with a later version of K3b. Hardware config has not changed. Alex, what is your status? If not working, what version of K3b do you use?
