Bugzilla – Bug 1188870
missing pipewire-jack package on the repo but cited on the wiki
Last modified: 2024-03-07 15:04:24 UTC
I'd like to use Pipewire compatibility layers for pulse and jack. I read the wiki page regarding pipewire to know how to do that, however the wiki tells you to install the 'pipewire-jack' package which is in fact missing on the official repos. I also tried installing 'pipewire-libjack' as suggested on a Reddit post but it's missing too. I'm using the latest snapshot.
Which Wiki page are you referring to?
This page: https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Pipewire#Pulseaudio_and_Jack_compatibility
AFAIK, the binary is included in pipewire-libjack-* package, but now it's named as pw-jack, not pipewire-jack. It seems that, though, pulseaudio is still named as pipewire-pulseaudio, so this looks inconsistent. In anyway, the update of documents is needed.
To use pipewire as the default jack server, the "pipewire-jack" package must be installed (manually). To use pipewire only for *some* applications, use "pw-jack <application>".
Not really packaging issue. Closed.
