Description Daniel Secareanu 2005-10-05 08:01:55 UTC
Thunderbird doesn't exit nicely, asks for force quit, even though the time until
the window shows up is about 1-3 secs and even though after the force quit
window pops up, it exits in less than a second. Maybe the force quit should not
show up unless you click several times on the close button (like it was in
previous Gnome/SUSE versions) or when an application is caught not responding
(the delay should be around 5-10 secs though, I presume).
Comment 1 Wolfgang Rosenauer 2005-10-11 18:24:41 UTC
Do you mean the Gnome "force quit" popup? Or a native Thunderbird one (never
seen this)
Comment 2 Daniel Secareanu 2005-10-11 18:38:54 UTC
Yes, the Gnome force quit popup.
Comment 3 Wolfgang Rosenauer 2005-10-11 19:04:38 UTC
gnome-maintainers: what does trigger that popup? And can the application do
anything to avoid this?
Comment 4 JP Rosevear 2005-10-11 20:02:33 UTC
That will come if you close the window using the "delete" method ie the X window
decoration and the app doesn't initiate the quit.
Comment 5 Robert O'Callahan 2005-10-12 04:02:31 UTC
Is this really a Thunderbird bug?
Comment 6 Wolfgang Rosenauer 2005-10-12 04:35:08 UTC
hmm, I always close my Thunderbird with the X decoration and it always quits (at
least if there are no hanging imap connections or similar). I never got this
Gnome force thing yet.
Comment 7 Daniel Secareanu 2005-10-12 07:33:51 UTC
I have on average around 5 email accounts set up on Thunderbird, all of them
IMAP, some of them on the same server, but using different accounts/domain
names. More exactly:
imap_account1 - server1
imap_account2 - server2
imap_account3-5 - server3
Comment 8 Robert O'Callahan 2005-10-16 20:01:00 UTC
What should Thunderbird do to stop the "force quit" dialog from showing up? Is it simply a matter of running the event loop?
Comment 9 Wolfgang Rosenauer 2006-03-16 09:17:34 UTC
Could a gnome-maintainer please comment what would be needed to avoid firing the force quit thingy?
Comment 10 Matej Horvath 2007-02-16 14:11:49 UTC
No reaction on this bug for a long time. Closing as CANTFIX.
