nvidia [RTX 3080 Ti] Wayland/GNOME not working
Last modified: 2023-05-24 18:03:00 UTC
openSUSE Tumbleweed installation trouble. only showing black screen after Hardware detecting. my system is i9-12900K and nVidia RTX 3080 Ti. i can't installation to normal. but, i had another solution to installtion. nomodeset edited. nomodeset installation is normal. nvidia graphic driver(G06) installed, but not working only working X11, not showing and not available wayland in GDM. tested KDE not yet. this is trouble. i can't installed normal on my desktop.
So, either this was an installation, OR there was a proprietary NVidia driver installed. Which one is it? Did you try a text mode installation? Notice that this does NOT mean that the resulting system is restricted to text mode. Please read the documentation. https://doc.opensuse.org/documentation/leap/startup/single-html/book-startup/index.html#sec-opensuse-installquick-install Yes, this is about Leap 15.4, but the installation steps etc. are the same on TW. Maybe this also helps: https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:NVIDIA_troubleshooting
Ok. So nouveau driver doesn't work at all. Which G06 packages did you install? --> rpm -qa | grep G06 On an X11 desktop please run the following glxinfo -B and add the output here. GNOME/Wayland session should be available with nVidia proprietary driver. Maybe you have not installed the GNOME/Wayland pattern in YaST though. Please check this.

Outputs look good. At least X11 session looks good. Not sure why GNOME on Wayland session is not available.
(In reply to Stefan Dirsch from comment #13) > Outputs look good. At least X11 session looks good. Not sure why GNOME on > Wayland session is not available. sorry, X11 is not good. because, i used dual monitors setting, another monitor is not working. check again attached images and photos. by the way, i'm not care use X11. importantly, i can't use Dual Monitors on X11. i'm installed other distro, Fedora. Fedora is supported dual monitors, it's work without special setting on X11. what's different..... what's problem..... i want use openSUSE.
Ok. The output of 'xrandr --auto' would be useful.
(In reply to Stefan Dirsch from comment #15) > Ok. The output of 'xrandr --auto' would be useful. it doesn't work anything. include sudo, only output is "Can't open display".
Sorry. I meant xrandr --auto xrandr

(In reply to Chanryul Yoon from comment #18) > Created attachment 866388 [details] > xrandr Ok. So two 4k monitors detected and connected to two Displayport outputs (DP-4.8/DP-4.1) side-by-side.
