Looks like a nouveau problem. Adding Thomas and Patrik to Cc.

About nouveau problem, at best, report to the upstream, gitlab.freedesktop.org Issues. Care to report there?

I suppose this is a regression from 6.2.x, right?
Comment 2 Stefan Dirsch 2023-05-11 12:07:19 UTC
Hmm. I thought Arvin would use nVidia's proprietary driver. But with Kernel 6.3 on TW he now needs to approve the certificate in MokManager, since we accidently added the module signature check with this kernel. :-(

So I suggest to use this driver instead. G06 series most likely.

Upstream issue: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/nouveau/mesa/-/issues/70

AFAIR I always used nouveau on this machine.

Just to be sure: could you check whether you have kernel-firmware-nvidia package installed?
If not, please try to install it, rebuild initrd and reboot/retest.
Comment 5 Arvin Schnell 2023-05-23 10:24:17 UTC
I have kernel-firmware-nvidia and kernel-firmware-nvidia-gsp-G06
installed.
Comment 6 Takashi Iwai 2023-05-23 10:32:54 UTC
Thanks. I'm building a test kernel with the backport of the fix patch in the upstream bug tracker now. It's being built in OBS home:tiwai:bsc1211217 repo.
Please give it a try later once after the build finishes.
Comment 7 Arvin Schnell 2023-05-26 13:16:44 UTC
I have the kernel from home:tiwai:bsc1211217 repo running. The problem
did not happen since then. But it also did not happen with the previous
kernel for more than a week at least.

For me the bug seems to happen only very rare.
