Description Henrik Hudson 2023-06-01 17:45:03 UTC
Starting yesterday (5/31/2023 US) SDDM won't login anymore. It let's me in, but I just get a black screen with a mouse pointer. The system is not "locked up", the mouse pointer moves, and I can CTRL-ALT-F[2-5] to get to the console. There were no major config changes nor "major" package changes / upgrades, but I did run some upgrades prior. I've rebooted multiple times. System is a fresh install from about 4 days ago, so I haven't had time to "break" it :) It worked fine until yesterday.

Switching systemctl to "multiuser" and running startx with "exec startplasma-x11" in my .xinitrc works fine. So, I don't think it's a KDE Plasma problem, but more the hand off between SDDM -> Plasma.

Xorg.log looks fines and journalctl isn't showing anything jumping out at me. Not sure where else to look for logs.

I ran some package updates this morning, re-enabled graphical mode and now everything is working again.
