Description Adam Goldman 2023-06-08 18:06:30 UTC
Overview:
PSM(v1) developed by QLogic/Intel for TrueScale which was End-of-Life (EOL) over 5 years ago. Therefore, psm(v1) we should remove packages relating to it as it is not supported anymore.

Related Packages:
libpsm_infinipath1 - PSM API
libinfinipath4 - low-level PSM API
infinipath-psm-devel - Development files for the libpsm_infinipath library

Packages which need to be rebuilt to remove support:
libfabric*, libopenmpi*, mvapich*, openmpi*

If this is a SLES request (and Leap by inheritance), this needs to go through the proper process of opening a JIRA. (CCing Marc Ruehrschneck)

As this was not requested officially by Intel yet (AFAIK), psm1 is still part of SLE15SP5. Meaning, we have to support it at least until 15SP5 is EOL.

Regarding Factory/TW, I have kept them there as it creates 0 work for me and allow to keep the Factory first policy.
We could drop them from there, but as they are small package to build, deliver and without any known side effects to the libfabric/MPI stuff, I'd rather keep them until it has been EOLed in all supported SLES

It has been opened in JIRA: https://jira.suse.com/browse/INTEL-1595

Thanks Adam. I already closed the loop internally.

Done for 15SP6 and Factory
