Bugzilla – Bug 1214227
Screen flicker / sometimes no image on internal LCD (i915)
Last modified: 2023-08-14 18:02:03 UTC
For quite some time now I experience a lot of flicker or a no image condition on my laptops internal LCD. Without an external monitor it sometimes becomes useless. Hm, the bug thread mentioned looks pretty old, and it should have been covered by the upstream. Could you verify whether the problem persists with the recent upstream kernel in OBS Kernel:stable:Backport repo or not?
They appear to be all for Leap 15.4
The question is rather whether the 6.4.x kernel shows the problem when you install on the Leap system that showed the issue.
I don't run Leap. Argh... Sorry, I chose "Tumbelweed" for 'product' (correct) and Leap 15.5 for 'hardware' (wrong). This is all for Tumbleweed.
Corrected.
I got a new kernel for TW today. I guess I'll report back if the issue stays.
If it's TW, check the 6.3.x kernel in TW history repo at first: http://download.opensuse.org/history/ Or you can try my older kernels in OBS, e.g. home:tiwai:kernel:6.2, home:tiwai:kernel:6.1, etc. The point is to know whether it's a regression or not. OTOH, if you are sure that it's no regression but a long-standing problem, just report to the upstream. Go to gitlab.freedesktop.org, open an issue for DRM/Intel.
