On Leap 15.5, XFCE 4.18, right-clicking Package Updater icon located in bottom right in taskbar and opening the Preferences, unlike in other desktop environments it only gives to choose how often to automatically check updates, but there's no option to "check now" rather than waiting for the selected frequency...

Requesting to add such feature.
