Bugzilla – Bug 1215478
critical Bug of Hardware detecion
Last modified: 2023-11-13 09:52:26 UTC
Hello openSUSE team and I wanted to tell you about a serious error: if you insert a WLAN USB stick into your laptop, it doesn't work, the WLAN USB sticks are not recognized, no matter how many different ones I tried, the drivers for them are missing. Then several brands of printers are not recognized when you plug them in via USB stick, so it would be very helpful if your nice operating system recognized everything when you plugged it into the USB port or HDMI port or DisplayPort or all internal hardware Detection of laptops would also be absolutely helpful if it recognized everything, I would like to ask you to integrate all drivers, many thanks to all developers. I wish you a nice day. Serimki Herturan
Perhaps same as bsc#1215553
Hi Serimki, could you check bsc#1215553
I am planing to close this as duplicate.
(In reply to Ivan Ivanov from comment #3) > I am planing to close this as duplicate. What is the above-mentioned bug report about, since "You are not authorized to access bug #1215553"?
Hm, it should be open for everyone, anyway. It says: "Kernel update 5.14.21-150400.24.84.1 breaks USB". Similar bug is bsc#1215650 "Assigning USB devices to guest system fails with kernel 5.14.21-150500.55.22.1"
Hi not sure if related, but USB tethering doesn't work anymore with kernel 6.5.4-1-default
I think I misunderstood the original issue. This is Tumbleweed, which kernel is not 5.14 based. Serimki, could you little bit more specific what is the issue here? Is the USB working at all? Maybe you can try with simple USB disk. Which WLAN USB stick have you tried, specifically? Printers are... well tricky territory.

Hi sorry for jumping in, I'm not sure if related to this bug, I think so... I would say that any USB tethering doesn't work anymore. I think you can quickly test with your smartphone. I suppose the WLAN key USB issue should be the same, as I assume that smartphone in USB tethering mode is seen as a WLAN key. I can't say anything about usb printer. System: openSUSE Tumbleweed with kernel 6.5.4-1-default If you think it is an other bug, I can open an other issue. However, I think this kind of problem is related to the kernel (so we should change the component field value from Baseystem to Kernel)
Hi regarding the tethering issue, just found that the problem is a missing kernel module: solved with modprobe rndis_host (see also bug https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1216155)
Seems related to this decision https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1205767
