Description Jochen Hess 2023-10-08 18:07:34 UTC
Since some rolling update within the last six weeks Firefox started using the wrongs file chooser dialog for downloads again.

I tried starting firefox with the environment variable "GTK_USE_PORTAL=1" as many comments suggested but it doesn't work.

This worked before fine and changed recently.

Works fine here for TW20231006 with KDE Plasma 5.27.8, Frameworks 5.110, X11, and FF 118.0.1. Are you using Wayland? Does setting "widget.use-xdg-desktop-portal.file-picker" to 1 in about:config solve the issue?

The KDE patches have been recently disabled to get the update to 118.0 in.
My request restores the patches which should fix the bug:

Aha! Thanks for the quick patch!

Is there any news when it will be applied?

Up till today (10th of october) I do not see any change...

Cheers,
jh

running latest snapshot of tumbleweed, 20231011. Since 20231008, the KDE file picker when used in Firefox greys out the Show Preview Pane. I can not activate that option by a click or by using function key F11.

The KDE file picker Show Preview Pane options works everywhere else in Tumbleweed.

I did a complete removal of Firefox from the system including deleting the .mozilla config directory, the cache directory and uninstalling all four components of Firefox.

I then reinstalled the openSUSE MozillaFirefox. Running it for the first time and without doing anything else other than changing the XDG settings in about:config to select the KDE File Picker by setting it to 1 and set the portal to 1, I attempted to save an random image from the Internet. The Show Preview Pane option was greyed out.

This is a major problem for me as I save many images from the Internet into directories on my system which contain many images, and having the Preview Pane working allows me to easily check whether an image I'm trying to save is already present in the target directory.

This issue is not exclusive to firefox.
