When starting conky it fails with a segfault.

You could at least tell how and from where you installed conky, as it is not available in any official openSUSE repository. Additional the terminal output when run would help to...

I thought it was installed from repo-oss but it's actually installed from packman. I don't remember switching to that.

All I get when I run it is

conky: desktop window (e00017) is subwindow of root window (1dc)                                              
conky: window type - normal
conky: drawing to created window (0x3500002)
conky: drawing to double buffer

[1]  + 1582 segmentation fault (core dumped)  conky -d -c conky_system.rc

As it's from packman, I suspect this bug report is invalid.
