I have this problem namely when installing opensuse for the last few days the installer when downloading packages from the repo oss/add_on_product does not download and the installation does not want to go any further

You can simply install Tumbleweed offline (don‘t enable online media). Afterwards you can modify/chose a dedicated mirror via YaST software or zypper.

First of, for all YaST bug reports we always need y2logs generated with the supplied 'save_y2logs' script. See also

And the bug description is much too vague to be useful.


But in this case, even with that vague description, I am pretty sure that it's yet another case of bug #1218203.

As a workaround, you can install without an installer self-update: At the boot prompt of the installation media, add this parameter:

    self_update=0

If that makes the problem go away, it's definitely bug #1218203
