On my Alder Lake based Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon Gen 10 the microphone is not working out of the box. This is due to alsa not being installed.

Why does it need alsa and not work with pipewire?

It does... What's missing is the profiles (package alsa-ucm-conf).

Sorry for not investigating this enough before opening the bug.

Ok, so it doesn't need alsa, just needs the profile
