Description Ronnie Bailey 2024-01-21 22:52:48 UTC
mpv recently started crashing when I tried to open videos. Upon opening mpv via terminal command, I discovered that libopenh264-7 could not be found and all libopen264 versions were no longer available in any standard repo. I ended up using a community "home" repo to install it and all is well now.
Reporting because other H264 and mpv users may find the same issue. I have never cared for H265 for quality, and have terabytes of video transcoded with H264. Perhaps this is an oversight??

This codecs are in a separate repository since January 2923. This was broadly announced via news, mailing lists snd even Wiki.
