Description Werner Lemberg 2024-03-14 08:08:38 UTC
After running `zypper up` a few minutes ago and doing a reboot the desktop greets me with

```
Unable to create KIO worker. Can not create a socket
for launching a KIO worker for protokol 'desktop'.
```

and no icons are displayed. I have no idea what is causing this...

The following updates were installed:

Does dolphin still work? Anything in the journal?
Comment 2 Fabian Vogt 2024-03-14 08:56:13 UTC
"QT_LOGGING_RULES=*.debug=true kioclient5 ls desktop://" might be helpful as well
Comment 3 Werner Lemberg 2024-03-14 10:58:07 UTC
`journalctl` doesn't mention 'kio' anywhere.

I don't have `dolphin` installed (and I won't install it right now to avoid potential hiding of the problem, since it wants to install some other packages, too).

The output of `QT_LOGGING_RULES=*.debug=true kioclient5 ls desktop://` is as below. Note that right now `chromium` (120.0.6099.224-bp155.2.70.1) also has a KIO problem; I get the same message as reported originally (with 'desktop' replaced by 'file') if I open a file dialog, and no files are listed. On the other hand, I don't have this problem with firefox (115.8.0-150200.152.126.3).
