Meanwhile there were 2 updates of NVidia-driver, but still the grafic doesn't work in the default mode, but in "recovery mode" and "Strg-D" it works. In the first update there was an additional package of "nvidia-gfxG04-kmp-default" with version 390.157_K6.8.1 ... beside the old 390.157_K6.7.9_1-38.43-X86_64, which didn't work. At the 2nd update this new package was withdrawn again, only the old package remained. Will be there another update? I'm thinking to exchance my old grafic card by an newer one NVidia GT710 or GT730 with "Kepler-Architekture", but this is also 10 years old. How long will it be supported? Shall I prefer a GT 1030 with "Pascal-Architecture"? The "Nouveau-driver" works with some short blackouts and ohter little faults, but my old PC is slower with it.
I did the fix on March 21. Current packages are from March 20. There are fixed packages on-the-way. If you buy a "new" nvidia card. I wouldn't buy anything older than Turing. That's the minimum platform for the new open driver by nvidia. I can recommend nvidia Quadro T400. Already Turing. Small, quiet, affordable (< 200 EUR).
