With the current KDE Kontakt you cannot close the window anymore, you can only reduce it to tray.

What the application should do: reduce to symbol tray

What the application does: not react while clicking on the "x" cannot be closed.
Does miniminze to the taskbar, but to close you would have to exit.
Connection to the task bar icon broken as well.

Probably yes, because now, after a short time, a second(!) icon of kontact appeared in the tray. Both icons refer to the same instance of kontact running. A click on them does not open the minimized application in the tray but the application is becoming "active" that is selected in colour. To open however you have to click on the taskbar.
