Description Nick Dordea 2024-05-06 14:43:37 UTC
Hello,

My machine is opensuse 15.5

A)
Today, after some yast maintenance, I noticed that the audio volume icon is inactive and indicates

Audio Volume
No output or input devices found .

Trying to solve it via yast-sound,
I got that Card Model Sunrise Point-LP HD Audio is not configured.

Using Edit + Quick automatic setup or Normal set-up
fails with the message

An error occurred during the installation of
Sunrise Point-LD HD Audio
The kernel module snd-soc-skl for sound support could not be loaded
This can be caused by incorrect module parameters including
IO or IRQ parameters.

B)
yast shows that the module snd-soc-skl is part of the
kernel-default 5.14.21-150500.55.59.1

Could you please have a look at this issue and help me to get
the sound volume back .

Thank you,
Nick

Could you load the previous Leap 15.5 kernel(s) and verify whether the driver works or not? That is, we need to confirm that it's a recent kernel regression.

Hi Takashi,

Here are the results :
A)
The installed kernels are as follows :
sudo zypper se -i -s -x kernel-default

B)
I booted the machine using all those kernels and the audio issue remains.

C)
Is it possible to find the packages installed today ?
I do not know where/how I can find that info ....

D)
FYI, please find below some info about my machine :

Hi Takashi,

I found out how to get the packages from the last maintenance [ /var/log/zypp/history ] .
The logs related to the last maintenance show that some *wireplumber* were installed this morming .

Among them .... wireplumber-audio

Trying to get more info with yast I noticed that they have o newer update .

So I decided to install them .

Some zypper search/update files are attached .

After update/restart .... voila .... the audio volume icon shows normal .
The audio is back .

The funny thing is that yast sound still shows the Card Sunrise Point-LP HD Audio as not configured .

This ticket can be closed .

Thank you for taking the time to have a look at this issue.

Nick

Good to hear that you have solved the issue and found that it's a problem related with wireplumber / pulseaudio update.

It seems that you mix some repositories like OBS multimedia:libs. This isn't always trivial to get the right package, and I guess you hit some intermittent issue with the repo mixture.

In anyway let's close the bug for now.
