Description Max Schaefer 2024-05-23 02:22:56 UTC
When installing openSUSE Aeon, I set my kernel parameters as follows:

video=DSI-1:panel_orientation=right_side_up

This changes orientation in the boot process but once the UI loads orientation is reset.

Is there any way to fix this?

You can go to the top right hand corner of the Installer screen and click the tray there, choose the cog icon for Settings > Displays, and change the orientation of the panel

I don't think wayland/GNOME can interpret nor honour the Kernel mode video= parameter

Is this a satisfactory answer for you?

When setting the kernel mode video parameter it works in wayland after install (Gnome/KDE) - tested across other distros and it works there too, just somehow it doesn’t work in the SUSE installer…

I can't see any cog to change the display settings, just a button to change the theme, do you have a screenshot?

Cog Icon

The Cog icon is the one directly to the left of the padlock icon and directly to the right of the screenshot icon (your tik installer won't have a power icon..but I'm on a test machine here)

I'm able to spin my screen around at whatever direction I'd want from the Display settings launched by clicking that cog icon

Closing - no response and suspected was not using Aeon but legacy MicroOS installer
Comment 5 Max Schaefer 2024-06-12 00:19:23 UTC
Was using legacy MicroOS as this was before the release of RC2 - Aeon installer does not have this issue, apologies for the delay on this.
